Official Statement from the Senior Team of WKA International
The Senior Team of WKA International formally rejects the claims made in the recently circulated statement regarding Dave Sawyer and WKA International.
Dave Sawyer remains the current World President under the constitution signed and ratified in October 2025. Under that constitution, the World President can only be removed by a vote of the Senior Council. No such lawful constitutional process has taken place.
Following two unsuccessful World Championships in 2017 and 2018, Paul Ingram stepped away from the WKA, and Dave Sawyer, through WKA International Ltd, assumed the Presidency.
After rebuilding and successfully growing the organisation, Dave Sawyer and the Senior Committee agreed at the 2024 WKA World Championships in Scotland to transition the WKA into a democratically governed organisation and to end the involvement of WKA International Ltd.
This decision was formally ratified and signed in 2025 at the WKA World Championships in England by Dave Sawyer, the Senior Committee, and attending country representatives.
WKA International is an association run by its members, for its members. Senior leadership roles, including that of World President, are determined through democratic process in accordance with the constitution.
We also confirm that Paul Ingram was removed from the association following serious concerns regarding actions taken against several members.
We thank everyone who has supported this organisation and contributed to its growth since 2018. The commitment, loyalty, and belief of our members, officials, promoters, and supporters continue to strengthen WKA International.
